The eighth wonder of the world in Astana 22.06.2017 14:301007

The exhibition «Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di» which visited about 40 countries was opened in the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In Kazakhstan, as well as in Central Asia, the exposition is presented for the first time.

8 099 full-size terracotta statues of Chinese soldiers and their horses were found near the mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di in Xian in 1974. The figures of the soldiers are made individually, each of them has its own unique features. The researchers found that the statues were made by order of the ruler in 210-209 BC. "Terracotta Army" is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is praised as the eighth wonder of the world.

Shaanxi Zhao Rong, Director of the Department of Cultural Monuments of the Province:

- The exhibition "The Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di" arrived in Central Asia for the first time. The EXPO takes place in Astana and it is in its framework that we would like to present our culture. The reign of the Qin Dynasty is one of the bright periods of the history of the Chinese empire, when economy, culture, relations with other countries experienced development. Therefore, we want to tell our story through the terracotta warriors of Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di so that the people of Kazakhstan learn about the heritage and culture of China. Thanks to the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan this event is embodied and we are here!

Galina Bakum, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine:

- I heard that in China, those wishing to see terracotta warriors stand in huge queues. The complex itself consists of a museum and three pavilions, in which excavations continue. The technique and skill with which the terracotta warriors were made speak of the high level of development of Chinese art in the third millennium BC. Currently, scientists continue to make sensational discoveries at the site of excavations. Therefore, to touch this story, which has not yet been solved to the end - become its discoverer! I'm glad that EXPO-2017 gave us this opportunity, because now Astana has become the center of cultures of the whole world! And I would like to note that the cultural program prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Sports worthily reflects the purpose of the exhibition - to erase borders for the sake of one task - the future!

Valentin Smirnov, Kostanay, post-graduate student of the St. Petersburg State University of Technology and Design:

-I planned in advance my vacation this year. We decided to visit the EXPO-2017 exhibition with my friends, got acquainted on the official websites with the cultural program in advance. I cannot believe that masterpieces for which we usually go somewhere abroad are can be seen by us here! Dear Kazakhstanis, take this opportunity! Do not miss out on this privilege!
